Challenge

Linn County Rural Electric Cooperative (www.linncountyrec.com)  was founded in 1938 and had its first install in July of 1939.  Since then, they have added over 20,000 members in six counties across Iowa and continue to grow. Not only do they provide electricity, but they are committed to giving back to the community as well.  They award scholarships to college students, volunteer several man hours to different projects, teach electricity safety to elementary students, and much more.

With over 20,000 members and growing, Linn County REC needed a faster approach to capture and process their incoming checks.  They had five full time employees manually entering all of the checks that would come in, which was extremely stressful because all of Linn County REC’s customers have the same due date.  They were in need of some help, so they turned to AudioTel.

Solution

Linn County installed AudioTel’s RemitPlus system to help alleviate stress and more importantly save them time.  They were also looking for a solution that would also comply with their goal, which is to provide members with reliable service in the most cost effective and efficient manner. The RemitPlus allowed them to continue working towards their goal.   “We are very impressed with the RemitPlus system.  The CAR/LAR feature is extremely accurate and we are amazed at all the things it can read,” Kay Sawyer, Linn County REC Billing Supervisor, said. “It has saved us lots of time and stress.”

Results

Linn County REC was the very first electric co-op to install AudioTel’s RemitPlus System.  “It has simplified our workload, and we are extremely happy with the results,” exclaimed Nick Patel, Linn County REC Controller.  With RemitPlus, Linn County has been able to cut back to just one employee to process all of the checks in less time than it had been taking five employees.  They now have more staff available to serve their members and the community.
